The Video Centre of Excellence (‘Video’) sits within the Brand Studio in Marketing at Bain, conceptualizing and creating high quality video content for external and internal audiences.
A key element of the company's creative engine, the Video team continually innovates and maintains technical knowledge of the latest production trends and technologies.
Collaborating with a wide range of global colleagues and vendors, the Post Production Specialist is responsible for the administration and execution of the department’s day-to-day media management needs.
Role Summary:
The Post Production Specialist ensures the efficient and effective flow of valuable production assets in and out of the Video department. They will be responsible for all media management needs within a new eco-system heavily reliant on outside production and post-production vendors.
They will work with the Production Manager to design and implement best practices for internal and external stakeholders, improve workflow and embed the department's new cloud-based Media Asset Management system. They will administer production and post-production software and make recommendations for improvements.
The Post Production Specialist understands the nuances of a broad spectrum of multimedia asset types, and their appropriate handling, logging and archiving. They are a core connector when it comes to production and post-production, ensuring communication lines between in-house producers and freelancers are clear.
The Post Production Specialist will also be called on for ad hoc editing requests, and therefore should have junior editing skills.
Responsibilities
Media Management (50%)
- Handles daily media traffic to/from internal and external production partners, ensuring adherence to Bain policies and procedures
- Ingests and organizes footage and other multimedia files according to BDP for logging, file naming and project formatting
Prepares Premiere edit projects for editors, importing relevant media and setting up folder structure - Delivers and archives completed projects (including asset tagging), ensuring relevant files are present and linked
- Stays on top of the department’s project pipeline and anticipates specific job needs
Operations (25%)
- Owns the Media Asset Management system and other tools, both from an administrative perspective (on/offboarding users) and a technical operational perspective (liaising with internal IT and Risk departments on compliance, and configuring for evolving needs)
With guidance from the Production Manager, develops and maintains playbooks on media management best practices to ensure consistent project organisation and short/long term storage of assets - Manages the department’s project archive, ensuring an organized and efficient retrieval system for all video content
- Oversees the branded video toolkit including managing access requests, updating the central library with new assets, and managing version control when original assets are modified
Manages external vendor relationships as it relates to deliverables and quality control, overcoming hurdles as needed with vendors - Trains colleagues, freelancers and vendors on defined Video department media management BDPs
Editing (20%)
- Ad hoc editing of long and short form videos for social, web, event and internal communications. Use Adobe Premiere and other software to pull footage, add captions, music, graphics and handle basic audio mixing/colour correction
Production (5%)
- Assist producers in various tasks, such as remote capture and technical troubleshooting
- As needed, take on role of data wrangler on shoots, including transferring files, labelling, and backing up camera and sound files and ensuring there is no data loss or corruption
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in film or media preferable
- Experience: Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a corporate or production agency setting. Familiarity or proficiency with Backlight's Iconik Media Asset Management (MAM) system highly regarded, as is experience managing system transitions
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Technical knowledge: Demonstrates expertise in industry standard tools and software (particularly Adobe Creative Cloud) and other video asset management software. Deep understanding of different file types and how to handle them
- Attention to detail: Pays careful attention to files and metadata and ensures everything is labelled accurately. Meticulously adheres to departmental best practice.
